A picture tells a thousand words. Overseen and curated by The Youth Narrative, our youth communications project, we’re using visual arts to educate paediatricians and other visitors to the RCPCH Head Office building about what keeps children and young people healthy, happy and well.
“We hope this will start a bigger conversation about what children and young people need.”
(Young volunteer)

Asthma &Me Ambassadors
We are a group of asthma experienced or interested children, young people and families who volunteer together to improve care for asthma patients and their families.
“We are taking on a bigger issue, but we are keeping children and young people at the centre.”
(Young volunteer on the Asthma & Me project)

Awards Judging Panels
Throughout the year we run a number of Awards Judging Panels where a group of children and young people come together (online or in person) to review nominations for doctors, staff and other healthcare professionals on their work in the sector.
“Working as a team…means you get different views and can be persuaded against what you first thought! The training taught me not to just go with my gut.”
(Young volunteer on an Awards Judging Panel)

Climate Changers
Climate Changers are a group of children and young people passionate about sustainability and the environment.
“Being part of this project has opened my mind to how important it is children and young people have the right information, have more and better information, and that this doesn’t always appear naturally even though it should.”
(Young volunteer on the Climate Changers project)

Engagement Committee
The Engagement Committee meets 4-6 times a year (hybrid) to look at how to improve the way that children, young people and families are involved and work with health services.
“If you want to build a good future, you need to ask young people who are the future.”
(Young volunteer on the Engagement Committee)

Epilepsy12 Youth Advocates
The Epilepsy 12 Youth Advocates are a group of children and young people who help make hospital care better for young people with epilepsy. They work with doctors and nurses to share their ideas about what really matters to them. The group helps create helpful resources, gives feedback for reports, and even talks at big meetings with health professionals.

Experts by Experience on the UK Paediatrics Epilepsy Programme Board
The Epilepsy Programme Board is made up of young people aged 18-25 years old, parents, and experts who know a lot about epilepsy. They work with doctors and other professionals to make sure children and young people with epilepsy get the best care in the UK.
“We need each other to speak together, and the work of everyone – it’s the glue that is sticking it all together in the world of epilepsy to make change.”
(Expert by Experience on the Epilepsy Programme Board)

Volunteer Meet-up
We offer informal monthly get togethers for our children and young people volunteers where you can meet others who work on different projects, find out about new opportunities, and give your thoughts and opinions on different health related topics.

Youth Health Policy & Rights
Our Youth Health Policy & Rights group is brand new in 2026, designed to give you the space, skills and support to speak up, ask questions, influence policies and help build a healthier, fairer future.
Whether you’re curious about social justice, public health, your rights, politics, or just want to understand the world better – there’s a place for you!

The Youth Narrative
The Youth Narrative is our communications group, formed of young people keen on using different forms of communication to share children and young people’s thoughts and views on healthcare issues.
“This project provides a really easy way of reminding healthcare professionals that we have a voice and a full life outside of our health conditions – I love that.”
(Young volunteer on The Youth Narrative project)
