Throughout the year we run a number of Awards Judging Panels where a group of children and young people come together (online or in person) to review nominations for Drs, staff and other healthcare professionals on their work in the sector. The group receive online training on unbiased judging and confidentiality, and then work as a team to decide on a scoring method before judging Awards like the ‘Children and Young People’s Voice Hero’ for RCPCH staff, winners of the annual PAFTAs (Paediatric Awards for Trainees), and the RCPCH &Us ‘Voice Champion Award’. Panel members also present winners with their trophies at conference or, as happened last year with the Voice Champion Award, surprise winners by gate-crashing an online meeting they are in to announce their win and give a speech!
